My thoughts on the puretrak talent

Postby Willy » Mon Feb 08, 2010 12:46 pm

Alright so I've been an fps gamer for many years, and I've always used cloth pads throughout my 8 years of fps gaming. After hearing such great things about the talent from forums and clan mates I finally decided to test it out myself. Within two weeks my talent was finally here(international/Canadian order with USP shipping method).

My first thoughts were wow this mouse pad feels like silk, and wondered if it will be too slippery for my taste. This surface was indeed slippery but it still provided the control I needed with my low sensitivity of 14 inch 360 degree turn. The pad tracks flawlessly with my deathadder but it skips on cheaper mice from walmart that's less than 15 dollar(which I suspect can't keep up with the patterns). The value of this product is great since it is a lot cheaper than all the other gaming mouse pad that comes close to competing will be razer goliathus which is slightly pricier.

The only thing that I didn't like about the talent is the stitching at the bottom of the pad (9between the cloth and the rubber bottom). The way I play fps games (quakelive) I rest my wrist at the bottom and make quick movements with my mouse in order to perform good. Since in quake I have to perform a lot of rocket jump (look down and shoot) I tend to push up hard (I'm an invert mouse user so I push up to look down), and I'm concerned about the pressure I put into talent might end up ripping off its rubber bottom like my previous pad.

Overall I'm quite happy with the product. It has a great value and I strongly recommend potential buyers to click the "Where to buy" on the main site to check if there are any resellers within your location (this is to prevent the long international shipping that will take the longest 2 weeks of your life). Before buying remember to look for what you want in a pad (control or speed) complexity pad has more friction which provides good control while talent offers a bit more speed and slightly less friction.

Willy,

Awesome testimonial. Thank you for your feedback. We're working on a new product that will correct the issue for users with the same setup as yourself. When we originally designed the Talent, we embraced users feedback from not only our casual gamers but our professional gamers as well, who say having a "straight cut" edge on their mouse pad was uncomfortable and caused chafing to their wrists. So in the design, we included a "semi-frayed" cut that would give the pad a little less aggressive feel for the end users wrists.

Thanks again Willy. If you could, include this review on our website for the Talent under the official user review section: http://www.puretrak.com/products/item/6 (at the bottom).

Thanks Nick and I already did post the review up on the main site under the name Kevin. The review on the site wasn't as detailed as this one since I suspect buyers won't want to read a long review when they're trying to buy a product. I can see how the stitching can start to chafe if it's there, I'm sure puretrak will find a happy medium with future products. As for the newer product you mentioned, I do have a few questions.

1) How close is it to being done?
2) Do you have a launch date in mind?
3) What size can we expect it to be?
4) Cloth, Glass, or Plastic?
5) Is the name of the product determined or will puretrak be holding some sort of promotion where the users can test out/give out name suggestions for this new product.

If needed I can copy and paste the more detailed version of this review to the main product site, and thanks for taking the time to reply on the forums.
