Hey guys,

Introducing... LAST MAN STANDING! Some of you heard me speak of bringing this to the PV community earlier this week and all I heard was positive feedback. This tournament will be on a set day every week with random tournaments announced on the fly during the week (at peak hours).

For everyone wondering what a Last Man Standing tournament consists of, well all your answers should be answered with the following. Nothing is set in stone, however it's a very very close idea as to what is going to take place (as far as numbers go):

Before The Tournament

Before anything takes place, we will have a server setup which will have a maximum slot size of 64 users (pending). The server will be locked until an official announcement will be made via our Steam community. This will, in return, broadcast a message to all of our members who are online in the community. At that exact point, the server will then be publicly opened until the maximum slot size is reached. The server will then be locked down again so no further people are allowed in.

Starting Of The Tournament

After the maximum slot size has been established and all the admins are in place (in spectator mode), everyone will be assigned $16,000 and the round time will be set to it's highest possible setting.

Now, this is where the fun starts. The admins will then start the tournament by executing a script which will restart the round 3 times. On the 3rd restart, everything will be live (sound familiar? (live on three) :P). At that point, each side battles each other to try and eliminate as many people as you can without getting killed yourself.

Now, as this is a LAST MAN STANDING tournament, once you die, you will be KICKED from the server. This process will be repeated until there is only 1 person left standing in the server... hence the name.

To break it down, look at the following:

-64 slot server with 64 players (16vs16).
-Everyone starts with $16,000
-Round time set to 10 minutes
-Objectives do not count
-All guns enabled
-Common maps will be used (dust2, aztec, office, etc)

10/19/2007 // ****UPDATE********UPDATE********UPDATE****

To solve the camping issue of the past 3 tournaments, I have implemented a new rule in to game play. The following rule will be standard in game play from now on regardless of the map UNLESS instructed else wise by myself.

With the new rule, if the Terrorists are able to plant the bomb and it explodes, the Terrorists will eliminate all of the Counter-Terrorists. If the Terrorists are able to plant the bomb and the Counter-Terrorists are able to defuse it, the Terrorists will then be eliminated.

Questions & Answers

Q: What happens if the rest of my team dies and it's 10 people vs me (for example)?
A: You have 2 options... try to eliminate as many people as you can or avoid being found and wait for time to run out on the clock.

Q: What happens when, if for example, the CT's eliminate the T's? What happens the next round?
A: If, for example, there are 10 CT's left at the end of the round, auto-balance will take place and those 10 will be split for the next round.

Q: What is the point of all this? Do I get anything if i'm the last man standing?
A: Well, the main point of all this is the fun. Once you play your first LMS you'll understand how addicting it is. As far items you can WIN by being the last man standing... well, they range from video cards, memory, pure voice shirts/polos, and bonus points padded to your stats on the PVC gaming network.

We will be testing this tournament out during the week with various announcements through the steam community. So in order to participate, you'll need to join our steam community. You can do so by clicking here:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/purevoice?action=join

Joining the group assures you'll get immediate notifications and releases of the tournament.

Anyway guys, that's it for now. I'll be posting back here shortly with some updates. Thanks for listening and I look forward to doing this. I assure you it'll be a blast.

I'll be happy to answer any and all questions regarding this tournament and how it's ran.

Also, feel free to spread the word. The more users we have on our steam community the bigger the prizes get.

Thanks again!

Round is set to 10 mins.

Of course people are going to end up camping like crazy, but you can't do much about it :P Let's just see how it'll play out.

So what happens if only one or 2 players die each round ?

That mean you will have maybe about 10 rounds. Right ?

So 10 rounds x 10 mins each u get to aprox 100 mins.

So I guess I just answered the question myself.

What if nobody ever dies ??!! Could the game go for very long hours ?

Haha,

If no one kills each other, it'd be the most boring game of CS ever and no one will ever win. It's the thrill of knowing you killed someone and eliminating them from the game that'll drive the urge to kill in the server.

There should be a way to spec after you've been killed; gotta see how the rest of the game goes!

You should make it so that the last 10 guys can spec. Another incentive for staying alive.

(PS. posted this cause my Steams been messed lately and couldn't msg Nick, also if anyone else may be wondering the same thing)

Ya... gona need to play in this thing. I enjoy killing the kids with mics in pubs, but knowing that they won't even have a chance to talk back and that they're probably whispering swear words and throwing their headsets quietly at something soft so their parents don't hear them... priceless.

I know this might be reviving a dead thread or whatever, but I was wondering what that one really big LMS map was we did before. It was some kind of factory, where you could hide under stairs and shoot out the windows. Forgot what it's called, and it was deleted from my comp after a reinstall, and help would be much appreciated.

Hey Ronin,

I think the map you're speaking of is de_fuelworks - Not 100% sure but do a google and let me know if that's it.
